We could compare the television series Lost with a game of chess. Its labyrinthine narrative structure and the intellectual complexity it exudes would be little more than typical clichés used on many, many occasions. If we were to go one step further and use the aforementioned simile in relation to one of Omar Khayyam's poems, we could interpret the program along the lines of theological determinism, (inverting what Bergman did in his glorious The Seventh Seal). Presenting the characters themselves as victims at the mercy of the story's writer while Radiohead's Everything in Its Right Place plays in the background, we will have achieved the veneration of appreciating, creative minds everywhere.
Once again, concept triumphs over icons underlining the difference between the insipid and the sublime. Gonzalo Tegel and the director Frankie de Leonardis understood this very well when developing their splendid promo for the last season of Lost on channel Cuatro. Production was carried out by boolab, who participated in Broad.cat 08. The event this year saw the creative and image director of the channel, Iñaki Martikorena, who offered up the pre-world premiere of the piece. From that exact moment, his recognition has grown exponentially to the point that none other than ABC have decided to broadcast the promo in the United States. Talent is not precisely invisible and even less on television.
