In a Coen Brothers' movie we will always find two types of protagonists: either characters destroyed by their own moral mediocrity or individuals whose integrity is threatened by the moral mediocrity of those that surround them. A Serious Man is a clear exponent of the aforementioned second example. The trailer, by means of acerbic visual and sound editing, reflects with overwhelming forcefulness the blows that good Larry endures, time and again. The rhythm of the video depicts a literal beating, mechanic and inhumane, each blow against the wall resounds in the other shots, where Larry suffers the most painful of attacks, like a heartbeat of poisoned blood.
