The nominees for best short animation film at the 2010 Goya Awards demonstrated the good health of this genre in Spain. The Lady and the Reaper is a hilarious, darkly humorous tale directed by Javier Recio García and produced, among many others, by Antonio Banderas and is also nominated for the Oscars. With a more modest structure but at the same time equally creative, Tachaaan! is a slapstick comedy created by three students, Rafael Cano, Carlos del Olmo and Miguel A. Bellot. Classic tenderness is revived in Margarita, directed by Álex Cervantes, with a clean storyline and original soundtrack by Banjo Music. Completing the quartet is Alma, a film by Rodrigo Blass, a veritable wonder in film making and photography inspired by the deepest sense of animating.
