Mona Kim

Brings her experience as Creative Director of cultural and commercial projects, which range from publicity campaigns for the fashion industry to the design of multimedia exhibitions.  Her role in various projects in which she has participated centre on the synthesis of words, image, public space and technology.  Amongst her independent works are the development of installations, concepts, and brand strategy for the Samsung Visitors Centre in Seoul and the Canadian Museum of Human Rights.  With the assignment of the Universal Forum of Cultures of Barcelona 2004, which received numerous awards, Mona took on the creative directorship of the “Voices” exhibition.   This received numerous awards, including the I.D., the SEGD and The Laus Award, elected by the Barcelona design community.

Olga Subirós
Brings along her experience in Architecture, Exhibition Design, Stage Design and Museology.  Olga has designed award-winning exhibitions in museums such as the Reina Sofía Art-Centre, or the Círculo de Bellas Artes (Fine Arts Circle), in Madrid and the Centro de Cultura Contemporánea de Barcelona (CCCB).  She focused her study on the intersection between Architecture, Design and Museology whilst she formed part of the department of large-format exhibition production for the Universal Forum of Cultures of Barcelona 2004.  The ideas put forward by Olga have been showered with three FAD awards in the category of Ephemeral Architecture.

¿Virtual or real? Audiovisual in exhibitions
The creative process behind developing an audiovisual experience for an exhibition is interdependent with the process involved in the design of the space.  The direction and production of audiovisuals in this context always responds to the demands of their contents, and in another sense to the reality of the architecture and their production.  “Water for life” is one of the principal exhibitions at Expo Zaragoza 2008 (the international exhibition of “Water and sustainable development”) designed by four members of the Program Collective (Mona Kim, Todd Palmer, Olga Subirós and Simon Taylor) with 8 dynamic large-format multimedia installations inside a building of spectacular size and proportions, with the objective of stimulating the public to discover personal links to a series of scientific and essential cultural concepts.
Focusing on this project, the conference looks at how the project was devised, the challenges/problems during the project, and how these challenges were met without ever losing sight of the creative focus or the design.
