BEYOND THE SCREEN
Think Beyond the Screen. Be free of plug-ins. Think in terms of multiple concepts and strategies to be implemented in all areas in exceptional circumstances and thereby achieve the definition of new realities. To create Beyond the Screen is to question what we are doing, where we are going and how we are going to get there.
Now in it's seventh edition, Broad.cat International 2011 brings you much more than memorable lectures by some of the best professionals in audiovisual design. These are people who come to share their ideas and visions. It is a meeting place for professionals to take the pulse of what's going to happen. It is a place where creators connect with the market and the market discovers new talents.
Broad.cat has always strived to be a beacon with which to observe the intricacies that are often ill-defined due to the complexity of this discipline. In each of our on-line articles, our events and our many projects, there is always a spark that exceeds the conventional limits of what we can read into the term audiovisual design. This year's contents are a clear example.
Pablo Ferro has managed to create his own language which is burned into our minds' eye. Thanks to credit titles for films such as Dr. Strangelove, Bullitt, Men in Black or The Thomas Crown Affair, he has become one of the definitive pillars of audiovisual design and a key reference for fans of the genre.
OK Go have revolutionized the music video culture over the past five years. Every time one of their videos is released, it becomes viral, circling the world in a million of clicks at a time. The magic, charisma and skill of the band members before the cameras are perfectly captured in these iconic videos by director and choreographer Trish Sie from Los Angeles.
From England, Federico Gaggio is the VP and Executive Creative Director of Discovery Networks Western Europe. He is responsible for the identity, advertising, on-air promotions and marketing activities for the UK and Western Europe along with what is considered one of the best in-house teams of the world in Broadcast Design.
Ideas that transform into stories beyond the screen. All-encompassing situations where the key factor is the function of narrative and unforgettable experience. From Berlin, Marc Tamschick, CEO and Creative Director of MEDIA+SPACE TAMSCHICK will be sharing his ideas on space and linear communication, generative, reactive and interactive. This conference has been selected by Philip Hunt of Studio AKA (speaker at Broad.cat 2010).
In 2018, the Nazis inhabit the dark side of the Moon. How did this occur? With the help of thousands of people and a film of 7.5 million Euros, of which nearly 1 million comes from crowd-funding. From Finland, Pekka Ollula, Head of Social Media at Blind Spot Pictures, will explain the intricacies of Iron Sky, an out-of-this-world project.
The screens that we pay the most attention to are no longer those of our televisions and our computers, but our mobile devices with which we only want to communicate and have fun. Right here in Barcelona, there is a world reference as far as mobility and video games are concerned. Simón Lee, content director for Digital Legends will be joining us to share his thoughts.
We will also be having micro-presentations in the form of Tête-à-tête with Multitouch Barcelona, Kotoc, Fantastic Orange Tree, Citoplasmas and NoInteraction. Don't forget our Professional Panel: Searching for Work? Pack your Bags with the participation of Dvein, Chello Multicanal, Canada, Maroto Bambinomonkey and Prisa TV/Canal+.
Different ways of understanding the discipline, some diametrically opposite to each other, all highly enriching. Upon the conclusion of the last conference, if you're left wanting more, we will be finishing with a party where industry professionals can continue networking “Beyond the Screen”
